Team up with your dog and walk a marathon (26 miles) or an ultra-marathon marathon (50 or 100 miles) in a month this April!

The challenge

Help us to end homelessness and rebuild lives by teaming up with your furry friend and walk a marathon (26 miles) or an ultra-marathon (50 or 100 miles) between 1 and 30 April. In total, 4,667 people were recorded as rough sleeping in on a single night in Autumn 2024. This is an increase of 20% on the same period last year.

At St Mungo’s we know that pets can be a lifeline for someone experiencing homelessness. That’s why we offer pet-friendly accommodation to prevent people from facing the heartbreaking choice between a safe place to sleep and staying with their companion.

You can take on this paw-some challenge anywhere, in your own time and at your own pace! Whether you choose to go on shorter walks every day or to plan longer distances at the weekend – it’s your challenge, so you can decide when and where you clock up the miles.

It's completely free to register, and you will receive a dog bandana and mile tracker on signing up. We encourage you to raise £50 to receive your St Mungo's t-shirt, so your furry friend can look the part while out on your walks. Ask friends and family to sponsor you and help us get one step closer to ending homelessness for good.

How you’ll make a difference

Sadly, the latest statistics show that rough sleeping is at an all time high. Across the whole year, data released in summer 2025 shows a total of 13,231 people sleeping rough on the streets of London. This represents a 74% increase from the year before.

We’re here to reverse the rise on people sleeping rough and support people in rebuilding their lives. Our frontline workers go out morning, daytime and night to meet people who are sleeping rough, and offer them somewhere safe to stay. Your support helps us to be there for more than 1,300 people every night.
